Track and Field Athlete Tori Bowie’s Cause of Death Revealed as Complications from Premature Birth

Bowie, 32, was found dead on May 2 at her home in Florida. US media previously reported that the cause of death was unknown.

An autopsy report published recently in the media indicates that the track and field athlete died due to complications arising from premature birth.

Bowie was eight months pregnant before her death. Complications included respiratory distress and eclampsia, according to the autopsy report.

The titled sprinter won gold in the 4×100-meter relay, silver in the 100-meter sprint and bronze in the 200-meter distance at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2017, at the World Championships in London, she won gold in the 4×100 meter relay and 100 meter sprint.
