Tracing only in serious cases, hygiene does not catch up. People with a respirator would not have to be quarantined

“Minister (Adam) Vojtěch informed that hygiene is considering tracing only serious cases. It is a consideration that it will not trace all contacts, because we have many people in quarantine who are not sick and have no symptoms, “the prime minister told a news conference after the government meeting.

According to Babiš, it should be clearer on Friday, when the Smart Quarantine team, together with hygienists, regularly informs about coronavirus developments in the Czech Republic and updates the so-called covid traffic light.

The chief Czech hygienist Jarmila Rážová subsequently confirmed to ČT the thesis that asymptomatic people who came into contact with an infected person would not have to quarantine for ten days. It also means that if they did not show any symptoms, they would not even have to go for tests.

Hygienists would thus be interested only in the immediate surroundings of a positive person and contacts in which some symptoms appear. This would make it much easier, for example, for Prague hygienists, who are unable to trace due to the high number of daily increments. In recent days, more than a hundred new cases have been added to the metropolis every day.

Chance thanks to respirator and distance

Limiting the number of people who have to quarantine after contact with a positive person would also relieve companies that would avoid traffic restrictions due to the large number of employees who have to stay at home for a while, and yet they have nothing.

Another number of planned partial changes to the tracing system could reduce the number of people quarantined. This is to mean that people who have met an infected person but have worn a respirator at all times and kept a safe distance would not need to be quarantined.

“In cooperation with hygienists, general practitioners, laboratory specialists and other experts, an initial proposal is being prepared. Experts should present it to the Chief Hygienist of the Czech Republic and the Minister of Health by next week. The proposal will then be submitted to the Government Council for Health Risks for further discussion, “Gabriela Štěpanyová, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, told Novinka.

The Prime Minister already has personal experience with the discussed change. He did not have to be quarantined by a decision of the Prague hygienists after last week on Monday with a meeting with Rážová on Monday, for which the coronavirus was subsequently confirmed. He was sitting at a distance of about 3.5 meters from the main hygienist and he was wearing an FFP2 respirator throughout the meeting.
