The rule that hygiene attempts to map the risk contacts of everyone newly infected with covid-19 will soon cease to apply. The daily numbers of those who test positive exceed the limit beyond which epidemiologists are no longer able to “trace” them all.

Chief Hygienist Jarmila Rážová said on Sunday that her colleagues can handle the tracing of each person tested positive only to the number of 400 infected per day.

“We have the given capacity to prosecute, say, up to 400 a day, every day,” Rážová said in the ČT Otázky Otázky Václava Moravec program.

In just the last ten days, the number of people infected in the Czech Republic has crossed this border twice. On August 21, it was even slightly over 500, for this Friday health statistics reported a number of 485 positive.

According to Rážová, the capacity for hygiene is already increasing, the stations are mainly assisted by army doctors and medics from universities. “The goal is around 750,” she specified to what upper limit she wants to pull her daily hygiene capacity.

Nevertheless, hygienists will switch to limited testing as part of the so-called smart quarantine.

“Epidemiologists in regional hygienic stations should trace epidemiologically significant contacts. This means those who are indicated as supercarriers or work in an area that is crucial for the functioning of the health system, so that the infection does not spread to very sensitive groups, “said the chief hygienist.

Specifically, Rážová appointed health professionals and other people working in health care, employees in social services and paramedics.

The change in strategy is probably related to the fact that experts expect a further increase in the number of people infected per day in the coming weeks. “Obviously it’s out of the question,” she said. According to Rážová, the scheme of the new method of testing should be completed within the next week.

Especially in Prague, but also in other regions that face a high rate of covid-19 infection, hygiene workers are long-term congestion. At the same time, the number of infected people has been gradually increasing in recent weeks, with daily data on positive testing exceeding the figures from March, when the coronavirus first peaked. In Prague, the disease has already started to spread in the community, which means that the possibility of finding out details about the way of infection of individual people is declining.

“If nothing unexpected comes, the number of newly infected will be over a thousand during September and October,” said evolutionary biologist Jaroslav Flegr on his Facebook profile on Saturday, predicting in the spring that the virus’s mortality will drop significantly in the summer by during the closure of the country, the impact of the most dangerous types of virus will be reduced.

Rážová reminded that hygienic stations were given the opportunity to hire 134 new workers. According to her, about 80 should start from September or October. The coronavirus 1221 emergency telephone line, which is to be operated by 120 medics, should also be fully operational.

“All things are now being prepared so that the supplies and all medical facilities are equipped so that they have enough material needed for the investigation,” Rážová said.
