Traces of China’s Zhurong Mars Rover Successfully Captured by NASA’s MRO Camera

The traces of the Mars Zhurong rover have been caught on camera by NASA. It is clear how the rover robot explores the red planet.

The American Space Agency (NASA) has a spacecraft orbiting the planet Mars. The craft is used to get a clear picture of Mars.

During its orbit, the NASA MRO spacecraft managed to capture traces of China’s Mars rover, which has been observing the planet’s surface for some time.

NASA Captures Footprint of Mars Zhurong Rover

The planet Mars has long been the subject of research by astronomers. Earth’s neighbor was indeed a candidate for the second Earth because of its resemblance.

When the times began to be modern, space research supporting equipment also became more sophisticated. Many space agencies from various countries are trying to unmask the mystery of space.

One of the famous space agencies is America’s NASA. They have a plane called the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). As the name implies, this spacecraft orbits Mars.

On March 11, NASA researchers posted an image of Zhurong on the Earth-like planet. The image looks quite clear thanks to the MRO’s HiRISE (High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment) camera.

Launching from Space, Wednesday (23/3/2022), although MRO orbits at an altitude of 288 kilometers above Mars, HiRISE manages to capture everything on the planet’s surface.

The HiRISE MRO camera takes about 1.5 km of the track that Zhurong has made on its way to the south of Mars since landing in May 2021. As for the images of the outstanding pieces have experienced an increase in contrast.

In the photo it can be seen that the Chinese rover visited the parachute and shell, resulting in Zhurong’s descent through the Martian atmosphere.

Zhurong was also seen observing all the features on the surface of Mars, including sand dunes.

Chinese Robot explorer on Mars

NASA’s MRO camera that managed to capture the traces of the Mars rover Zhurong is not surprising. Zhurong itself is part of China’s Tianwen 1 mission which also includes an orbiter.

Last month, the orbiter marked a full year (Earth) around Mars. As a rover, the Zhurong remained attached and orbited before splitting up for several months for a May 2021 landing.

On January 1, 2022 previously, China was also seen releasing a number of photos of Mars as a result of the Tianwen 1 Mission. China’s National Space Administration (CNSA) said the images show how the orbiter and rover probe work.

Through these two instruments, researchers can clearly see the topography of the red planet’s surface.

The Tianwen 1 mission first launched on July 23, 2020 and successfully landed south of Utopia Mars on May 15, 2021.

After a successful landing, the Zhurong rover began exploring the surface of Mars on May 22, 2021. According to CSNA as of December 31, 2021, Zhurong had traveled the planet for 225 days and traveled 1,400 meters.

NASA’s capture of the Zhurong Mars rover is a testament to how spectacular the device’s space travel is. (R10/HR-Online)
