When Toyota built the version GRMN on the last generation of yaris, it was a revelation. She successfully followed up on her – and thanks to a better platform and all-wheel drive, she probably raised the bar – variant of the GR of the current yaris. However, the ongoing car show shows that this is not all – it has revealed an even sharper version, again marked GRMN.

These letters mean Gazoo Racing Masters of Nürburgring and the car is adjusted accordingly. It has only two seats, but they are deep Recaro shells, and instead of the back ones there is a safety half-frame.

Unlike the “normal” yaris, the GR also has a gearbox with a shorter one, reverse and output ratio – but it’s still a six-speed manual -, a sharper metal clutch and torsen self-locking differentials on both axles.

It also got 545 more spot welds, which means better torsional rigidity, as well as a carbon hood to reduce weight. Under the hood, a 1.6-liter three-cylinder still works, which gives 272 hp and 390 Nm, ie 20 Nm more.

The weight depends on the equipment in each case; in the “standard”, the GRMN is 30 kg lighter than the GR, ie it weighs 1250 kg. If you add the Circuit package, you also get a carbon rear spoiler, lollipop forward, sill extensions, 18 ”BBS wheels and Bilstein adjustable shock absorbers. The tax is a ten-pound weight gain.

The second package available is called Rally and adds underbody protection, a better protective frame to the interior, shorter cross stabilizer bars and better shock absorbers. How difficult this version is, Toyota did not disclose – it should depend on other options, not specified in the press release.

Yaris GRMN will be created in just 500 pieces, and between January 14 and February 28, those interested can register for the lottery on the carmaker’s website, from which those who will be able to buy a car will be drawn.

It is necessary to prepare at least 7.317 million yen (1.367 million crowns) for the basic version, respectively. 8.467 million yen (1.581 million crowns) for the Circuit version and 8.379 million yen (1.565 million crowns) for the Rally version.
