LOS ANGELES (AP) – Karl-Anthony Towns scored 18 of his 29 points in Minnesota’s dominant third quarter and the Timberwolves snapped a six-game losing streak Friday by beating the Los Angeles Lakers 107-83.

D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points against his old team and Patrick Beverley had 11 and seven rebounds for Minnesota, which took control of the game after trailing the Lakers 40-12 in the third quarter. The dominance began with an impressive 29-4 run after the break, and Russell chipped in 11 points early in the quarter in the Wolves’ first win on October 27.

Anthony Davis finished with 22 points and eight rebounds and the Lakers are 2-3 since LeBron James’ loss due to a muscle problem in the abdomen.

Russell Westbrook finished with 20 points on his 33rd birthday for Los Angeles, who had a solid first before before the third-quarter meltdown that ended in his fourth loss in 11 rounds.

Argentine Leandro Bolmaro finished with a rebound for Minnesota.
