The chronic absence of tourists in Thailand gives rise to all scenarios for their return. The Thailand Tourist Board (TAT) plans to attract cryptocurrency holders by offering the opening of digital wallets that will allow them to spend their digital savings on hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said he discussed the idea with the Thailand-Japan Technology Promotion Association. If this idea is successful, Thailand will be one of the countries where cryptocurrencies can be spent in the tourism sector, ”Yuthsak said.
Japanese and bitcoins
The governor added that the Japanese were the largest holders of bitcoin in the world with 11% of the holdings. Some hotels and restaurants have grown through the use of these digital assets, and Elon Musk is said to have promised to travel to Thailand in the post-coronavirus era if cryptocurrencies can be used in the kingdom.
The idea of a tourism sector open to cryptocurrencies will be discussed with restaurant and hotel entrepreneurs, as well as with the Central Bank of Thailand.
