Jonas Vingegaard is prepared for many scenarios, including that UAE Emirates may attack early today in the twelfth stage. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they attack early, so we have to be attentive from the start,” says the Jumbo-Visma yellow jersey wearer after the ride to Moulins about the team of competitor Tadej Pogačar.

“It will be very interesting”, Vingegaard looks ahead to the transition stage to Belleville-en-Beaujolais. “It goes up and down a lot and it will be interesting to see what the plans of the other teams will be. In any case, our plan is to defend the yellow jersey. […] And we have to make sure that no dangerous riders get away in the opening phase.”

The first real showdowns for the classification riders can therefore already come today, but all eyes are on the mountain stages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “I’m really looking forward to the weekend. Those will be three very tough stages and I think I’m ready for that,” said the leader of Jumbo-Visma.

“We are now eleven stages away, so I think everyone feels that in their legs. But today it wasn’t a tough ride, so it’s hard to say exactly how my legs feel.”
