The match: 3-2
The Toulousans had targeted this match as the one that could have put them in the Top 10 and have done enough to deserve the three points. Against Angers, a retaining rival, TFC nevertheless seduced, notably through their attacking trio Chaïbi-Aboukhlal-Ratao.
The first was the best in the field (see elsewhere) with two assists for Dejaegere and Spierings (10th, 67th). The second caused Valery immense problems. The third, returned to the starting line-up, received a generous penalty converted by Van den Boomen (40th). Enough to further boost the confidence of the Violets, who have just taken ten points from five games.
A good record, which Angers envies… Because the SCO has lost seven of its last nine L1 matches. Relegated, however, he showed great things in attack, creating a dozen preferential situations. Two finished in defense, Bentaleb (direct free kick at 33 ‘) and Salama (header smashed at 90’ + 3). The last, signed El-Melali, was saved by Dupé. The 3-3 was not far off. The player: Chaïbi with all the right moves
Scoring two goals and four assists in his last five games, the Franco-Algerian is the man in form of Toulouse. Logically, his playing time is increasingly important. This Sunday against Angers he recovered the advantage of the disappointing Dallinga for the first time and he was excellent. At the origin of the exploits of Dejaegere and Spierings, the 19-year-old posed immense problems to the opposing defense, very often dezoning, organizing the match as a fake number 9. Author of 5 assists that led to a shot (match record), was very precise in its transmissions, even in the area of truth (only 6 balls lost!). Disqualified Dallinga against Toulouse, Chaïbi is expected to continue in the attack against Strasbourg next day.
The fact: Even at 5, the SCO defense cracked
Angers have the worst defense in L1 (27 goals conceded) and Gérald Baticle tried to strengthen them in Toulouse, setting a 5-3-2 without Blazic but with Hountondji. Was the SCO coach hoping to keep his goal intact at the stadium? After 10 minutes of play, Dejaegere had already opened the scoring. In the end, the Angevins nevertheless conceded three goals for the seventh time this season (European Big 5 record). The addition could have been stronger had Ratao been more accurate (29th) or if Fofana hadn’t been as solid against the Brazilian (54th) and Aboukhlal (66th).
