Tottenham have officially announced the arrival of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who has signed a five-year contract with the club.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper was one of the standout goalkeepers in Serie A this season, keeping seven clean sheets and making 95 saves throughout the campaign. He also impressed with his skills on the ball, comfortable playing from behind.
Tottenham bought Vicario from Empoli in a deal reported to be worth around €19 million plus add-ons, with 10% of this fee going to his previous club Cagliari. The Italian goalkeeper signed a five-year contract with the club and will wear the number 13 shirt.
Vicario is expected to become the long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, who is entering the final year of his contract and could leave in the coming months.
The Italian has been called up several times by Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri team, but has yet to make his first appearance, being benched in favor of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
