Torrential rains: crisis meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office – AGP

Libreville, November 28, 2023 (AGP) – In solidarity with the populations victims of the natural disasters which have taken place in the last 24 hours across the cities of the country, the Head of the Government of the Transition, Raymond Ndong Sima, has set up a committee of crisis which met this Tuesday, November 28.

Established under the authority of the Prime Minister of the Transition, Raymond Ndong Sima, a crisis unit met this Tuesday, November 28, at the Prime Minister’s Office. A crisis meeting during which populations located in risk areas were invited to exercise the greatest vigilance and extreme caution, according to the terms of the Government Press Release, read by its Spokesperson, Laurence Ndong.

In his intervention, the Minister of New Information and Communication Technologies added that the executive had to, following presidential instructions, take stock of the situation and put in place the necessary measures to come into effect. help to our stricken compatriots. Adding that the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and the Government express their compassion and solidarity to all the affected families.

According to the first assessment made by the crisis unit, the torrential rains which fell across the country, including at kilometer point 8 (PK 8) in the 6th arrondissement of the commune of Libreville, caused the death of a national of a brother country, landslides, floods, as well as numerous destruction of homes.

The extent of the damage is such that appropriate measures will be taken by the Transitional Government in the coming days.
