Torrential Downpour in Cartagena Due to Tropical Storm Franklin

This Tuesday, August 22, from approximately 1 in the morning there was a torrential downpour in Cartagena. This is due to the tropical storm Franklin that remains stationary in the Caribbean Sea, north of the La Guajira peninsula, and has an indirect impact on the city.

– 19 sectors flooded in El Pozón, Central, Víctor Blanco, Los Laureles and Isla de León, Isla de Belén, Olaya Herrera sectors, Zarabanda, Ricaurte, El Progreso, Central and La Magdalena sectors, Bayunca, Arroz Barato, Fredonia. Bernardo Jaramillo, Antonio José de Sucre, Manzanillo del Mar, El Libertador and Albornoz.

– A house with a roof loss in Pasacaballos.

– Two houses with structural problems in El Carmelo and one house affected by a fallen tree.

– Four fallen trees in Piedra de Bolívar, Bicentenario, Los Cerezos and Nelson Mandela, Francisco de Paula Santander sector.

– Due to community reports, there is knowledge of a significant number of vehicles stranded on the roads, especially in the freight corridor towards the industrial zone.

According to the most recent report by IDEAM, it is reported that rainy conditions remain in the city and in much of the Caribbean. The transit of the phenomenon is slow and, although the forecast of a turn to the north is maintained, it is still unknown how long it will take before leaving the Caribbean Sea.
