NEW YORK — George Springer responded to booing fans with a two-run homer and an RBI double, and the Toronto Blue Jays made three brilliant defensive plays to beat the New York Yankees 3-0 on Monday night.


Alek Manoah (1-0) allowed one hit in six innings, Joey Gallo’s single to the opposite field with one out in the second inning, topping the six scoreless innings with two-hit ball he recorded in his Bronx debut on may 27th.


The 24-year-old right-hander struck out seven and walked four walks, helping the Blue Jays extend their winning streak at Yankee Stadium to five games.


The fans booed Springer every one of his at-bats, but he was still just one triple short of completing the cycle in his first position in the batting order. Santiago Espinal, ninth in the order, had three singles for the Blue Jays.


After Espinal’s third-inning single, Springer sent a slider off Jameson Taillon (0-1) into the left-field stands for his second homer in two days.


For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Espinal 3-3, with 2 runs scored, and Teoscar Hernández 4-3; Cuban Lourdes Gurriel 4-1; and Mexican Alejandro Kirk, 4-0.

Phillies beat Mets, Seranthony Dominguez won.

PHILADELPHIA — JT Realmuto hit a two-run homer in the eighth, and Rhys Hoskins and Didi Gregorius followed with RBI doubles to lead the Phillies’ comeback in Philadelphia’s 5-4 win over the New York Mets on Monday night .


The Phillies trailed 4-0 before scoring five times in the eighth inning off two Mets relievers. Realmuto’s first home run of the season was a deep drive to left field that made it 4-3. Hoskins tied the game with a double off Seth Lugo (0-1) and Gregorius hit a two-season drive to right-center field to put Philadelphia ahead 5-4.


Seranthony Domínguez (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Brad Hand safely retired the ninth inning for the save.


For the Phillies, Dominican Jean Segura 4-1. Panamanian Johan Camargo 1-1.


For the Mets, Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor 4-1 with one produced. Dominican Starling Marte 4-1 with a run scored. Venezuelans Eduardo Escobar 3-1 with an RBI and a run scored; Luis Guillorme 3-0.
