Following the increase in the number of flu cases, by over a third more in the last week compared to the previous week, the health authorities of the county sent a series of measures and recommendations to the population to avoid illness.

The Public Health Directorate (DSP) in Vaslui sent a series of measures to avoid illness, following the increase in the number of cases, 61 in the week of January 29 – February 4, of which 41 resulted in admissions. Also, the number of pneumonia cases was 179, of which 50 were hospitalized.

DSP Vaslui states that influenza is an acute infectious disease with increased epidemic potential, caused by influenza viruses. The disease is transmitted very easily through droplets of infected saliva that can be detected by coughing, sneezing, talking, laughing. It is also transmitted through contact with contaminated objects and surfaces.

What are the symptoms of flu? Fever with increased values ​​(38.5-39°C) lasting 3-5 days; Chills; Headache and sore throat; Persistent cough; Muscle pain and joint pain; Marked physical asthenia. Symptoms have a sudden onset and last 7-10 days.

How can we prevent the spread of the flu?

– Voluntary isolation at home of people with symptoms;

– Avoiding sending children to communities if they show symptoms of the virus, to prevent the spread of the virus;

– Presentation to the family doctor at the appearance of respiratory symptoms to establish therapeutic indications;

Viruses, including the flu, are NOT TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS;

– Avoiding crowds;

– It is recommended to wear a protective mask in crowded spaces;

– Ventilation of closed spaces (offices, classrooms);

– Covering the nose and mouth during coughing and sneezing, using disposable tissues or in the elbow pocket, throwing the tissue in the trash immediately after use, washing/disinfecting hands after coughing/sneezing;

– Maintaining adequate hand hygiene by frequent washing with soap and water, in order to reduce the spread of the virus;

– The annual flu vaccination is the most effective method of preventing the flu and its complications.
