It is 75 days since Russia – by order of President Vladimir Putin – invaded Ukraine.
Since then, there have been almost constant fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces, and now Russia is starting to run out of resources, according to British intelligence.
The development is said to have led to panic in the Russian camp, where several generals fear being blamed for what is referred to as a “failed invasion”, writes The Times.
There are many indications that things have not gone exactly according to Putin’s plan in recent months, which he should have done the president furious. The British Minister of Defense Ben Wallace believes that it is highly probable that he will soon blame military leaders for the development.
The Russian General Staff will be made a scapegoat for Putin’s roots, he told the newspaper, claiming that pressured generals have now begun to blame each other for the setbacks for fear of being “cleansed” by the president.
Men:
–
– Putin would be stupid if he blamed Gerasimov (Valery Gerasimov, Chief of Russia’s General Staff, journ.anm.) And the other generals for what is mainly a political, emotionally driven invasion that defies all logic. This was not a military decision, but a political one, and he must be responsible for the decision he made, he adds.
Several Russian top generals have recently visited the front in Ukraine. This includes Chief of Defense Gerasimov, which the experts describe as “extremely abnormal”.
Wallace, who observed a military exercise with British troops and tanks in Finland on Thursday, claims that Russian generals are approaching the front line in an attempt to “change course” on the Russian offensive.
– They do this by shouting and screaming at people, but it tends not to give the best result, he says without elaborating on what he puts into it.
–
– Convinced
Lieutenant Colonel and teacher in military strategy at the Swedish Defense College, Joakim Paasikivi, also believes that the Russian president will point out scapegoats.
– I am convinced that you will hunt scapegoats, he says Aftonbladet.
He continues:
– If there is widespread dissatisfaction in the defense or in the general staff, there is reason to carry out a purge. The problem in dictatorships is who is to blame – and it is not always the culprits.
Among other things, the United States is said to have provided Ukraine with ongoing information about Russia’s military headquarters, which is frequently moved. In addition, US intelligence will help with information about Russian movements of soldiers.
