Too many cases of the disease are once again causing railway problems in NRW

In the coming weeks, more and more trains will be canceled in NRW. Deutsche Bahn is responding to staff shortages. The reason: too many cases of the disease.

Cologne – Al German train there will be more bankruptcies in the coming weeks North Rhine-Westphalia. According to the railway, the reason is an increase in sick leave. A total of eight RE, RB and S-Bahn lines are affected. In some cases there are bankruptcies until the end of January 2023.

“As in almost all companies in Germany, sick leave is still high among our employees, among other things due to the current wave of colds,” reports the railway company. In some cases, the lines go down completely even for several weeks.

Faults on the train in NRW: These RE, RB and S-Bahn lines are affected

The bankruptcies affect large parts of NRW, including the Rhineland, the Ruhr area and Münsterland. In Colony the trains of the line fall S6 between Cologne-Worringen and Leverkusen Chempark turned off. The RE49 between Wesel and Wuppertaler it’s even completely canceled from December 19 to January 6. The other affected lines are RB32, RB40, RE42, RB54, S3 and S68.

Faults in RE, RB and S-Bahn

RB32 (DortmundHerne–Wanne-Eickel–GelsenkirchenOberhausenDuisburg)

► Period: from 24 December 2022 to 30 January 2023 (outages from November)

► Impact: individual moves between Dortmund Central Station And Duisburg Central Station they are cancelled.

RB40 (Essen–Witten–Hagen)

► Period: from 19 December 2022 to 29 January 2023

► Impact: individual moves between Essen Central Station and Hagen main station are cancelled.

RE42 (MoenchengladbachKrefeld–Duisburg–Essen–Gelsenkirchen–Munster)

► Period: from today until 8 January 2023

► Effects: Half-hourly trains between Essen and Münster are completely cancelled. Alternatively line RE2 (Osnabrück–Dusseldorf) be used.

RI49 (Wesel-Oberhausen-Essen-Wuppertal)

► Period: from 19 December 2022 to 6 January 2023

► Effects: all trains of the RE49 line are cancelled. Alternatively, S3 lines, S9, RI5 and RE19 can be used.

RB54 (Unna-Fröndenberg-Menden-Neuenrade)

► Period: from 19 December 2022 to 8 January 2023

► Consequences: Trains on the Unna/Fröndenberg-Menden line are canceled.

S3 (Oberhausen–Mulheim–Essen–Hattingen)

► Period: from today until January 30, 2023

► Effects: Until 23 December 2022, the trains between Essen-Steele Ost and Oberhausen Hbf out. From 24 December the trains will once again run every hour during the day.

S6 (Cologne-Worringen-Cologne-Düsseldorf-Assessment– Essen)

► Period: from 19 December 2022 to 8 January 2023

► Effects: Trains are canceled between Cologne-Worringen/Nippes and Leverkusen-Chempark.

S68 (Langenfeld–Düsseldorf-Benrath–Düsseldorf–Wuppertal-Vohwinkel)

► Period: from today until 27 January 2023

► Effects: all trains of the S68 line are cancelled.
