The first two parts of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series are making a comeback as a remaster later this year. Activision has officially announced this. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 is a bundle of both games and brings along many old and popular elements as well as new features.

Vicarious Visions, who are familiar with remasters, are responsible for the development. Most recently, they released a new edition of a popular PS1 title with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The namesake Tony Hawk was involved in the remake development, as Vicarious Visions COO Simon Ebejer told us in the interview.

  • Better optics: The graphics have been completely revised and now run as expected in an HD resolution.
  • All 19 levels and 17 skaters of the original games: You can look forward to a return from Hangar, Venice Beach etc. as well as Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer and Co.
  • Adjustment en mass: In the Create-A-Park you create your own customizable levels that can also be shared online with others & in the Create-A-Skater your own skateboarders.
  • New features: There are new tricks and secrets as well as moves that only came in later parts, like the Reverts.
  • Multiplayer modes: You will be able to go highscore hunting both locally in the split screen and online.

Rumors confirmed

There has been speculation in the past about a return of the skateboard series, most recently professional skater Jason Dill had announced a new Tony Hawk game this year.

The remasters are not completely “new”, but the official announcement confirms the rumors that Activision would plan revised new editions of the first parts.

Curious: Less than an hour before the official announcement, Tony Hawk himself had “his own” remaster pack leaked in a message“.
