How about looking up at the sky tonight and enjoying the thirteenth moon our predecessors loved?
What is the twelfth night?
Unlike the custom of viewing the moon on the fifteenth night, which is said to have been introduced from China during the Heian period, the custom of viewing the slightly waning moon on the thirteenth night is said to be unique in Japan.
So why did the custom in Japan begin to see the moon on the thirteenth night, which is not even the full moon?
Although there are various theories about it, it is said to have been triggered by the feast of the moon held by the cloistered Emperor on 13 September 1991 (9 October 919 according to the current calendar), considered the most powerful theory.
Also, the 13th moon is often referred to as a set with the 15th moon (mid-autumn moon), sometimes called the “next moon”, or the two moons together are called “Futayo no Tsuki”.
And if only one of you sees the moon, it’s called “Katamizuki” and it’s considered bad luck.
Moon and Jupiter are getting closer
▼ Each setting time (Tokyo)
Mon 9 (Sun) 4:36 am
Jupiter Sun 9 4:43
In the case of Tokyo, the moon will rise around 4:40 pm on the 8th (Saturday), so it seems likely that you can see the moon floating in the eastern sky in the evening. After that, it reaches its maximum altitude in the southern sky after 10:30 pm (central south), and can be seen in the western sky until after 4:30 am on the 9th (Sunday) when the moon sets.
What kind of weather are you interested in?
Tomorrow, 9 (Sunday), the weather will drop, but tonight there will be no major collapses.
Since the Moon and Jupiter are bright, it’s possible that they can be seen through or through the clouds even in places where thin clouds spread, so it looks like we’ll be able to enjoy Twelfth Night over a large area tonight.
