Tongeren startled by bombs at bpost office: “It was clearly a robbery”

The thunderbolt happened around a quarter to 4 am in a bpost office in the Wijkstraat. The local residents heard a very loud bang. “I saw 3 men and then I heard a bang,” says a local resident, “I told my husband it was clearly a robbery.” The perpetrators entered the post office through the front door. The noise also woke up the other neighbors. “I heard a hell of a racket,” says a neighbor, “and saw them breaking in through the front door. Then they detonated and loaded some into their car.” According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrators fled to Liège.
