Tomato parade starts in the Nature Museum / Article / LSM.lv

A traditional tomato exhibition is taking place at the Latvian Museum of Nature from 19 to 23 August, the museum’s representative Baiba Krustiņa informed. You will be able to see more than 400 different tomato varieties together.

Every year, breeders create new and increasingly unusual varieties of tomatoes, they surprise with their size, shape and color, as well as taste characteristics. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to see both the latest and well-known and well-known tomato varieties of Latvian breeders, which have been cherished in their gardens by domestic collectors. In the diverse tomato color palette and variety of appearance, everyone will be able to find and buy seeds of varieties that suit their taste, which can be grown in their garden next year.

The exhibition will be attended by members of the gardening enthusiasts club “Tomāts” from different regions of Latvia: Valdis Pūliņš, Natālija Zeltiņa, Linda Grotupe, Darja Jureviča, Ludmila Kodzasova, Jānis Andersons, as well as long-term cooperation partners – farm “Neslinko”. Its collectors will offer a look at the long-known and beloved varieties of the tomato gene pool.

As usual, during the exhibition, anyone interested will be able to buy and order tomato seeds registered in the State Plant Protection Service (VAAD) register and receive consultations from the leading Latvian tomato growers.

In order to ensure the safety of visitors and to comply with the regulations in force in the country regarding gatherings and public events, the exhibition will be open to 25 people at a time.
