Souček did not manage to aim accurately, and did not continue his streak from November, when (including two matches of qualification for EURO 2024) he scored in five competitive duels in a row. Even so, he clearly demonstrated why he is valid for the selection of the Hammers.
He succeeded in a total of thirteen out of sixteen fights. On top of that, he also completed thirty-eight accurate passes, which is twice his season average. He also recorded four successful defensive tackles. He once again proved that he is a perfect complement to England’s James Ward-Prows, a player with excellent kicking technique who can benefit from his colleague’s hard work.

It probably doesn’t even need to be mentioned that Souček played a full game against Sheffield. The last time this did not happen was on November 9 of last year, when he came on at the end of the Europa League match against Olympiakos. Since then, he has not been missing from the starting eleven in any of the seventeen cases, whether it was a match for the club or the national team.
This is also why the national team captain at West Ham earned a new contract at the turn of the year. The Hammers have extended their cooperation with him until June 2027. “He is a professional in every inch. Every time he is on the pitch, he fights for the team and gives his all. I feel that it is my home,” the captain of the national team confessed.
