Former rider Tom Boonen has put his weight behind a project of Classified Cycling, a company from Turnhout. The Belgian company is presenting a new shifting system for racing and gravel bikes that the former world champion firmly believes in.

The revolution of Classified Cycling is in the wireless electronic system, which no longer uses a classic front derailleur. The electro-mechanical system is located in the hub of the rear wheel. That way, with one chainring at the front and eleven sprockets at the back, you still have 22 gears through the gearbox in the wheel hub.
Classified is convinced that this allows for faster switching, even under heavy loads. You never have to keep your legs still.
Boonen and Classified will have to compete with established names in the bicycle industry such as Shimano, Campagnolo and SRAM.
“We already have some very good contacts with bicycle manufacturers. I am very hopeful that they will soon be convinced by this product. I’m also going to have a number of professionals tested, I will not name any names. The advertisement will then follow quickly. This system will find its way through bicycle manufacturers ”, Boonen says convincedly at Sporza.
