The Tokyo Stock Exchange fell again at the close on Friday, but less severely than other stock exchanges on Thursday amid the specter of a global recession due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nikkei index finished on a 6.08% dip at 17,431.05 points, after briefly dropping more than 10% in the morning. The broad Topix index dropped 4.98% to 1,261.70 points.
