Surf: lost board, Brazilian star does not train

Problems for one of Brazil’s two greatest medal hopes in Tokyo 2020. Italo Ferreira, who together with compatriot Gabriel Medina (a great friend of Neymar) is one of the favorites for the podium of the men’s surfing competition, had to miss the first days of training because his board did not arrive at Tokyo airport, due to the despondency of the athlete. Ferreira also made an appeal on social media for some retailer to come to his aid by lending him an alternative “longboard”. This was not the case, and Ferreira had to wait until today, when he received the board and, finally, he was able to try his hand with Medina in the waves of Tsurigasaki beach. The surfing competitions of the Games will be held from 25 to 28 July.
