To do: In the Fabron district of Nice

This figure-eight walk in the Fabron district allows you to see the municipal archives, the Castle of Barla and the Abbey of Roseland and to travel through pretty paths and alleys.

Description of the hike

Best parking on Avenue de Fabron.

(D/A) Start at the crossroads between Avenue de Fabron and Chemin de l’Archet. Go up Avenue de Fabron on the left for 100 m and reach the entrance to the municipal archives park.

(1) Walk around the park and the basin facing the municipal archives.

(1) Exit through the same gate and take Avenue de Fabron on the left until you reach a roundabout. Opportunity here to visit the Anatole Jakovsky Naive Art Museum and admire the many sculptures in the park open to the public.

(2) At the roundabout, take the second street on the left and go to the gate of the Castle of Barla which is today the seat of the Peruvian consulate. Retrace your steps to the roundabout.

(2) Enter the Parc Carol de Romania on the left. Follow a tarmac road that runs along the park to the right and exit through the mini-golf restaurant.

Follow Avenue de Fabron to the right and cross it with caution to join Boulevard Napoléon III. At the T-junction, go right, still Boulevard Napoléon III.

(3) Pass over Chemin de l’Archet and take Avenue de Mesnil on the right at the end of Boulevard Napoléon III. Go down Avenue de Mesnil to join Avenue de Fabron, which you leave immediately to turn left onto Chemin des Grottes. At the end of this path, take a staircase on the left which leads to Boulevard de l’Impératrice Eugénie.

(4) Go up Boulevard de l’Impératrice Eugénie and in a bend to the right arrive at the top of a staircase on the left which is in fact Chemin de l’Archet.

Go down this staircase and the path which winds between two residences. Make a few switchbacks and end up alongside the Residence of the Abbey of Roselonad.

(5) Turn right and cross the road. Turn left onto Chemin de l’Archet and walk alongside Roseland Abbey, listed as a historical monument and owned by the city of Nice.

Cross a road again and descend further stairs to arrive at Chemin de l’Archet.

(3) Pass under Boulevard Napoléon III and follow Chemin de l’Archet to Avenue de Fabron and the car park (D/A).
