TNI Believes Crew of KRI Nanggala-402 to Save Oxygen

Jakarta

All parties are still trying to find KRI Nanggala-402 submarine although 72 hours have passed since the oxygen limit was declared lost contact. Nevertheless, TNI AL believes KRI Nanggala-402 will perform oxygen-saving procedures.

“They will carry out austerity procedures,” said Kadispenal, TNI First Admiral Julius Widjojono, Saturday (24/4/2021), as reported by Antara.

Julius said that the oxygen-saving procedure could be carried out by 53 submarine crews. According to him, reducing the activity on the ship could extend the oxygen in the submarine.

“For example, they don’t have much activity, and they can just sleep on the boat,” said Julius.

As is known, 72 hours have passed since KRI Nanggala-402 otherwise lost contact. It is estimated that oxygen will only be available until 03.00 WIB earlier.

“Search and rescue continues. (SAR strength) is still like yesterday. The Singapore (rescue ship) still hasn’t arrived. The Swift Rescue ship will arrive at 23.00,” explained Head of the Navy Information Service (Kadispen AL) First Admiral. TNI Julius Widjojono told detikcom, Saturday (24/4/2021).

Previously, KRI Nanggala-402 lost contact during a torpedo firing exercise on Wednesday (21/4/2021) in the morning. Until now, at 09.49 WIB, there has been no word that the ship carrying 53 crew members could be evacuated.
