Tips for Overcoming Dengue Fever | Baliexpress

DENPASAR, BALI EXPRESS – During January 2022, the number of dengue fever patients in Denpasar City reached 35 people. Although the number has not reached the number of dengue fever patients in December 2021 as many as 46 people, the number of dengue fever patients in January 2022 is already high.

Not only attacks adults, dengue fever also attacks children, even dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) can lead to the death of children in some Asian countries, including Indonesia.

That’s why, according to a general practitioner in Denpasar, dr. Danendra Dhany, apart from eradicating mosquito nests and fogging regularly, the best way to prevent dengue fever is to strengthen the immune system. “Because with a strong immune system, dengue fever is not at risk of being fatal,” he explained.

Followed by dr. Dhany, dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus carried by the Aedes aegypti mosquito whose population increases during the rainy season, especially in tropical climates such as Indonesia.

So when bitten by this mosquito, a person with a weak immune system can experience dengue fever. Followed by dr. Dhany, sometimes the symptoms of dengue fever do not appear in everyone. Mild symptoms will usually appear for a period of four days to two weeks after being bitten by an Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Usually, the symptoms of dengue fever will last for 2-7 days, such as experiencing a high fever, the appearance of pain in the back of the eye, joints, muscles, or bones. “In addition, rashes can also appear on most parts of the body to light bleeding through the nose or on the gums,” he continued.

So what if you have an attack of dengue fever? Followed by dr. Dhany, there are some tips that can be done at home before taking the patient to the hospital, such as, getting enough rest so that they can recover energy, next is to increase the intake of fluids and nutritious food.

If the fever persists, the patient can be examined by a doctor, usually the doctor will give paracetamol or acetaminophen to relieve fever and pain. In addition, the doctor will provide infusion therapy as part of the treatment process.

However, for pediatric patients, it is not recommended to give ibuprofen or aspirin because it is feared that it can adversely affect the blood platelet count. “But if within 24 hours the child vomits accompanied by a general decline in condition, immediately take the child to the hospital for help,” he added.
