New York City always celebrates the turn of the year with the ball-drop event in Times Square: on the One Times Square skyscraper, a colorful luminous ball descends a minute before midnight as revelers count down. Nothing is left to chance and that is why the ball was extensively tested on Thursday under the watchful eye of organizers Jeffrey Straus and Christine Duffy.
