Tim Hofman ‘cheers’ to Kiki from Over My Corpse: ‘Are few so brave’

While on holiday in Thailand with her parents and sister, the then 14-year-old Kiki suddenly becomes ill. In the hospital in Bangkok on July 24, 2019, an unexpected diagnosis is made: Kiki turns out to have liver cancer with metastases in her lungs. In the episode of February 23 it appears that Kiki also has metastases in her spine. She then goes on holiday to Renesse with her family, but after that it quickly goes downhill.

‘The sometimes unpredictably dark side of existence shows itself in many ways, and a 16-year-old girl who just dies of cancer is one of them. That is not allowed, that is not allowed and it makes no sense. But it does happen’, writes Tim, who thinks it’s special that Kiki managed to give that ‘jet black side’ again ‘incredibly beautiful and bright colors’ through who she was and what she said.

“There are very few of them as brave as you,” the presenter continues. ‘Rest in all the peace you can find, take all the sun you can get. It was an honor to stand next to you at the end of your life. Cheers to you.’

Over my dead body can be seen every Wednesday at 9.30 pm on NPO 1 and can be viewed via NPO Start.
