Who Could Become the Next Apple CEO After Tim Cook?
CEO Tim Cook’s Departure from Apple
Apple CEO Tim Cook will be staying at the company for at least three more years, according to a report by Bloomberg. Cook previously expressed his desire for his successor to be an internal hire.
Potential Successors within Apple
According to Bloomberg, there are several executives within Apple who are being considered as potential successors to Tim Cook.
- Jeff Williams, Chief Operating Officer
- John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering
- Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering
- Deirdre O’Brien, Senior Vice President of Retail
Jeff Williams, Chief Operating Officer
Jeff Williams has long been considered a potential successor to Tim Cook. Williams has a similar leadership style to Cook and has been at Apple for many years. He currently manages Apple’s worldwide operations and previously oversaw the development of the Apple Watch.
John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering
John Ternus is another potential candidate to replace Tim Cook. Ternus leads the hardware engineering of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and AirPods at Apple. While some consider him “too junior,” others describe him as having managerial characteristics similar to Tim Cook.
The Less Likely Candidates
In addition to Williams and Ternus, there are two other executives who are less likely to take on the role of Apple CEO, according to insider sources. Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, is responsible for key developments in Apple’s operating systems. Deirdre O’Brien, Senior Vice President of Retail, who played a major role in Apple’s retail expansion, is also a contender.
It is important to note that at this stage, Cook will remain at Apple for at least three more years, and the final decision on his successor has not been made yet.
