A truck has overturned on the Antwerp Ring in the direction of the Netherlands on Monday afternoon. Due to the accident, the highway was completely blocked for a while, so that traffic had to detour. The Liefkenshoek tunnel was cleared of tolls. In the meantime, the truck has been hoisted and the roadway has been cleared.

The accident happened on Monday afternoon at the Antwerp-Noord intersection where the Ring meets the E19 and A12 towards the Netherlands. A truck loaded with flour was driving in the right-hand lane when the driver lost control of the steering wheel. He ended up on a sloping guardrail and eventually ended up on his flank in the far left lane.
The hoisting of the heavy truck took some time. At about 6 pm the truck was upright again and cleaning work could be started. About two hours later, the roadway could then be released again.
Local traffic was sent from the highway in Merksem and can be returned to the Kleine Bareel driveway.
