The Tigres of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) have reported that the second leg of the Quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup, against Columbus Crew, will undergo a schedule change, which is intended for their fans, due to the day on which it will be played.

The Felinos are one of the four Mexican teams that remain alive in the Champions Cup, facing the current Major League Soccer (MLS) champion, Columbus Crew, in the Quarterfinals.

The squad led by Robert Dante Siboldi will have to visit the United States on Tuesday, April 2, returning to the Nuevo León University Stadium. The announced time for the return was 6:15 p.m. (Central Mexico time), however, it has been modified.

It will be played on Tuesday, April 9, as already agreed, but it will begin half an hour later, starting at 6:45 p.m. (Central Mexico time). The determination is due to the fact that it will be played during the week, so it could be difficult for fans to get to the “Volcano”.

The first leg will be played at 5:00 p.m. (Mexico time), although it will be at 7:00 p.m. (local Ohio time), remembering that it will be the Lower Field that will host this match, home of the Columbus Crew.

If they advance, Tigres could face Monterrey in the semifinals of the Champions Cup, in another edition of the Clásico Regio. Or there could be a series against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, a duel that they would undoubtedly wait for, for what would be the visit of the Argentine star on two occasions to the state in northern Mexico.

Tigres UANL, officially known as Club de Fútbol Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, is one of the most important and popular teams in Mexican soccer. Its foundation dates back to 1960, marking the beginning of a rich history in national sports.

The club had its first years of promotion in the 1970s, when it achieved promotion to the First Division in 1974. Its presence in the top flight was quickly consolidated, and Tigres won its first league title in the 1977-1978 season, establishing itself as a formidable competitor. Since then, it has continued to achieve success, becoming one of the most successful clubs in Mexico.

Throughout its history, Tigres has been home to outstanding players, both nationally and internationally, and has developed an intense rivalry with Monterrey, with whom it plays the Clásico Regiomontano, one of the most exciting and anticipated matches in Mexican soccer.

The institution has not only focused on sporting success but also on the development of its infrastructure. The University Stadium, known as “El Volcán”, is one of the most emblematic venues in Mexican football and has witnessed historic moments for the club.

Under the technical direction of Ricardo Ferretti, who has had several stints at the helm of the team, Tigres experienced one of its most successful periods during the 2010s, reaching multiple Liga MX finals and obtaining several league titles. In addition, the team has competed with honor in international tournaments, highlighting its participation in the Copa Libertadores and the CONCACAF Champions League, consolidating its reputation as one of the strongest and most respected teams in America.

Tigres UANL continues to write its history with passion, dedication, and the unconditional support of its fans, always aspiring to the highest in each competition it participates.
