Built by the late Jefferson Davis McKissack, a Houston postman, this monumental ode to oranges is a unique folk art center that has lit up Houston’s East End for decades.
Spanning over 270m², The Orange Show’s maze-like design features an oasis, well, pond, stage, museum, several upper decks and, of course, a great gift shop.
Made of traditional materials like concrete, brick and steel, as well as unconventional objects like gears, wagon wheels, mannequins and tractor seats, every piece of the Orange Show Monument has been painted by hand and posed by McKissack himself.
