Three new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus have been detected in York region, a suburb of Toronto, local health officials announced on Sunday.

The three people who contracted the virus have all traveled outside the country or have been in contact with relatives who fell ill after their return to Canada, the York Region public health directorate said in a press release.
In particular, one of the patients, a man in his forties, is the spouse of a woman who started to experience symptoms after returning from a trip to Iran, a country which has become one of the main centers of the epidemic. outside China in the past few weeks.
The man went to Mackenzie Hospital on Friday and was not in contact with the public before developing his symptoms, authorities said.
The other new patients are a 50-year-old who happens to be the brother of a patient who has also traveled to Iran and a 70-year-old who has traveled to Egypt. They were found positive Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The three people placed themselves in solitary confinement for fear of having contracted the virus from their loved one, before going to the hospital.
“The risk posed by COVID-19 for residents of York region remains low and there is no indication that it is spreading in the community,” reassured the management of health.
However, it is clear that the number of patients infected with the virus jumped over the weekend in Canada. On Saturday, Ontario announced the discovery of three patients infected with COVID-19, while British Columbia reported new contamination.
With these new cases, there are now 14 people who have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the epidemic in Ontario. Holding eight cases in British Columbia and one in Quebec, 23 people have been infected in the country since January.
