This weekend, three German hikers were killed in the Alps. They all fell into the depths before their relatives. Two of the deaths were in Austria, one in Switzerland.

A hiker from the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia crashed down in Tyrol, Austria, at an altitude of 1,770 meters on Friday. The 74-year-old victim first fell from a steep slope and then from an almost vertical rock face. He was with his wife and a friend near Tannheim. The walking route was classified as intermediate, with the color red. The path is often narrow and steep.

A 52-year-old was killed in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The German fell 100 meters from a via ferrata on Friday afternoon. His wife and other family members saw the accident happen.

On Saturday, a 57-year-old hiker on the Karhorn in Vorarlberg fell 100 meters off a sheer cliff after slipping. That happened on the descent after he and his wife met their daughter at the top, who had taken a different path to the top with her group. The accident happened when they all descended back into the valley together.
