Three generations of football players are enough, but not like the Maldinis

Toon Brusselers was a player of PSV in the 1950s and later saw his son Geert Brusselers in action at NAC Breda. Helmond Sport is now owned by the third generation: Bodi Brusselers. And at Jong PSV Mees Kreekels, the son of Bertran Kreekels (Helmond Sport and FC Wageningen) and grandson of Lambert Kreekels (Helmond Sport, FC Eindhoven and FC Den Bosch), are playing.

The Kluivert family is also nice to mention. Grandpa Kenneth was not a paid football player, but he made it to the Surinamese team. His son Patrick Kluivert became a world star and grandson Justin Kluivert is currently a permanent force at AS Roma. In addition, Ruben Kluivert recently made his debut at Jong FC Utrecht in the Keuken Kampioen Division.

Will Van Bommel be next?

Perhaps the Van Bommel family can soon be added to the list. Thomas van Bommel is the 17-year-old son of former PSV player and coach Mark van Bommel. He is part of the MVV selection and his younger brother Ruben is part of the PSV youth.

For those who had forgotten: former national coach and Dutch national team coach Bert van Marwijk is Van Bommel’s father-in-law and therefore the grandfather of the two boys.
