Three civilians who were in the hands of the ELN were released in Norte de Santander

Three civilians who were in the power of the National Liberation Army (ELN) were handed over today to a humanitarian mission made up of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Personería of Tibú, the Catholic Church and the ICBF.

The liberation took place in a rural area of the Catatumbo region, in the department of Norte de Santander.

All three people are in adequate health. Among those released is a minor that was transferred by the ICRC to the city of Cúcuta to be handed over to the ICBF.

“The result of this operation makes us deeply happy. Each person who regains his freedom and is reunited with his loved ones gives meaning to our humanitarian work, because all our efforts are focused on alleviating the suffering of those who suffer the consequences of the armed conflict and violence, ”said Nicolás Lenssens, chief of the ICRC sub-delegation in Bucaramanga.
