The contamination came to light after one participant in the monitoring course tested positive. “Nobody had any symptoms during the course. But one of the participants went to the doctor two days after the course because he was not feeling well,” says Erwin Cools of Chirojeugd Vlaanderen.
Thus, a corona test showed that the person is effectively infected with the new corona virus. “We then immediately notified all people who had been in the bubble with that person during the course. In the meantime, 11 people have already turned out positive, but that is a preliminary figure because not all results are known yet.”
A total of 58 leaders participated in the course, but they were divided into two bubbles. All 11 infections come from the same bubble. “The people from the other bubble have also been notified and we strongly recommended that they also get tested.”
Three camps can now not continue. Chiro Klein-Vorst normally left just today. Chirojeugd Vlaanderen emphasizes that the corona measures from the protocol have been observed during the monitoring course.
