Three Children Died Due to Dengue Fever in Bima City

BIMA CITY-Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) takes its toll. Three children died in January 2023.

Head of the City Health Office, Bima Ahmad, said that three children who died from dengue had previously received medical treatment. However, their condition continued to decline, until their lives could not be helped.

He explained that most of the victims who were attacked by the virus due to the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito were children. Only a few are adults.

“Residents infected with DHF are scattered in the central part of Bima City. Mostly in the West. For the eastern part, no cases have been found,” he said, yesterday.

For prevention, his party routinely conducts fogging, especially in areas where cases are found. Then work closely with the village head and sub-district head, to urge residents to clean up the environment. “A dirty environment will accelerate the development of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes,” he explained.

The emergence of DHF usually occurs during the transition season, from October to March. Because it is seasonal, depending on weather conditions and the environment. (gun/r8)
