“Nice fire, right?” says a boy who is watching on Scheveningen boulevard. “I helped build and only got five hours of sleep last night.” In the front row people warm themselves by the fire. “Well, I’ll stay for a while,” a man says to his wife. A girl watching with her boyfriend anxiously asks if the fire isn’t heading towards the village. Her friend reassures her: “No, the wind is good.”
