The grotesque story began to unfold earlier this month when firefighters were called to the Miller Place home, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
It is unclear who called or what was found at the time, but as of Tuesday, more than 300 animals had been counted, including 118 rabbits, 150 birds, 7 turtles, 3 snakes and 15 cats. Together with them 100,000 cockroaches.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was on site Tuesday and reporters were told to keep their distance; you can already imagine why.
Following the shocking discovery, a woman is expected to be charged with violating the New York Farm and Markets Act.
