Lack of doctors, nurses, caregivers… The hospital is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. A national day of action is organized this Tuesday, June 7 by several unions. We take stock of the situation in the region

It is a call for general mobilization. Five days before the first round of the legislative elections, the hospital unions want to be heard.

In the region, rallies are planned in Toulouse, Montpellier and in several departments this Tuesday, June 7 to denounce the lack of staff, the closure of services and very tense situations in the emergency room. And it is indeed all the hospitals that are suffering as we can see on this map.

In France, 120 emergency services distributed in around sixty departments claim to be facing significant difficulties. In Occitania, some hospitals have had to partially close their emergency services, such as in Auch, Montauban or Carcassonne.

In Millau, emergencies could be partially closed this summer due to lack of manpower. To Toulouse a strike affected the emergency room of Purpan Hospital this Monday, June 6 to denounce the lack of staff.

The Regional Health Agency of Occitanie allaunched a call for solidarity mobilization of all health actors to “spend the summer” serenely. Organization of leave, anticipation and requisition of personnel if necessary, the ARS wants “guarantee normal operation of activities in establishments and emergency services during the coming summer period”

At the Montpellier University Hospital, the CGT recently took stock of the situation during a technical committee: “300 nursing posts and 170 nursing assistant posts are unoccupied (vacant posts and absenteeism. In psychiatry, there is a shortage of 6 doctors, the young adults unit is closed and will be so until October. In Tarbes, lhe hospital’s neurovascular unit will be suspended from July 1 due to a shortage of staff.

This Tuesday, June 7, there were around 300 pounding the pavement in Tarbes to defend the hospital.

With this day of mobilization, the hospital unions are once again sounding the alarm to the government. With the probable closure of several services this summer, the public hospital is on its knees.
