“This year, the seaweed is ruined”. China’s hoe saeng’s hat class attack

“It’s all over the farm, and there’s only a sound that Kim has died this year.”
On the 24th, Hwang Seong-ho, a fisherman farming laver in Jaeun-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, removed a hat and hat stuck to the gimbal. He said, “Because of the hat, the yield of laver this year will be reduced by 80% from last year.”

Estimated inflow of over 2000 tons from China… “Even if you try to remove it, it will be stubborn in 2-3 days”

According to Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, more than 2,000 tons of black hats and hats have flowed into all areas of Sinan, including Heuksan Island, Hongdo Island, Jaeundo Island, and Bigeumdo Island. It is believed to be from China. It is not edible, and it sticks to farms such as seaweed, seaweed, and abalone, preventing growth.

The total area of the farms such as seaweed, seaweed, seaweed (11,605㏊) and fish and abalone (11,453㏊) off the coast of Sinan-gun is 15,2999㏊, and most of them are suffering from the damage caused by the black hat. An official in Shinan-gun said, “The Kim farm is suffering more damage because it is a structure that allows the mother and child to stick together.”

– Each gimbal installed in Mr. Hwang’s farm had a brown black hoe hat band wrapped around it. The farms were filled with sacks of hats and hats. He said, “This is the third time I have only removed the hoesaeng hat patch this year,” he said. “I have to cut it out by hand, but after two to three days, it becomes a sackcloth again.”

“It’s time for kim seeds to sprout… ”

Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, is the largest producer of laver farming, accounting for 70% of the nation’s laver production. Mr. Hwang’s laver farm was 2m wide and 4m long, with a scale of 5,000 gimbals, with sales of about 3 billion won last year, but this year it was difficult to estimate even production.

Older fishermen are in a situation where they can’t even get rid of their hats and close the laver farm early. Even fishermen who couldn’t afford to get rid of them started worrying about the cost of the laver seeds they had sown before the hoe-saeng-i hat class swung in.

Mr. Hwang said, “I only paid 200 million won for the seed of kim, but the compensation for the scrapping is only around 20 to 30 million won.” .

– Marine work such as aquaculture is much more difficult than land work, but labor costs are expensive. In recent years, as the number of foreign workers has decreased due to the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), fishermen say that the daily wage is approaching 130,000 won and the monthly labor cost is approaching 3 million won.

Mr. Hwang said, “It takes two to three hours to collect laver, but it is not enough to remove the hoesaeng hat patch all day, so foreign workers avoid it.” “There will continue to come in the future, but long-term countermeasures are needed rather than short-term prescriptions.” Said.

Estimated inflow from China

– Oechi Beach in Jaeun-do, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do was also full of black hats. Along the side of the hoesaengyi hat, there were plastic bottles and cans with brand names written in Chinese and Chinese characters. Sinan-gun estimates that the hoesaengi hatban was introduced from the coast of China through strong winds and currents.

The National Institute of Fisheries Science also published an analysis that showed that the genes of the scabbards, which were introduced into the sea areas such as Sinan and Jeju Island from 2015 to 2017, correspond to species distributed along the coast of China. In 2018, about 1900 tons of black hats were introduced.

Shinan-gun expects to exceed the estimated inflow of 2,000 tons so far if it is added to the amount of inflow in the farm that has not yet been identified and the expected amount to be pushed further in the future. On the other hand, only about 1,000 tons of black hats collected so far. Although the emergency collection work is being carried out by investing heavy equipment and manpower with a budget of 1.18 billion won, the speed of accumulating hats and hats is faster.
