This year, the largest number of students has been registered in recent years

According to the information included in the unified admission website “Latvija.lv”, this year 10,296 unique applications have been received for studies at one of the 12 universities, of which 9,226 have been approved. Thus, the number of applications submitted this year is the largest in the last eight years. during the last seven years – it has been higher in 2013, when the volume of approved unique applications reached 9728 units.

The leader in the constant number of applications is the University of Latvia (UL). This university has already approved 4,510 applications from applicants, while a total of 18,044 applications have been received in all priorities.

In second place is Riga Technical University (RTU), where 2216 people chose and approved one of the study programs as their first priority. In total, 11,352 study applications were received at all priorities of RTU.

The third most popular higher education institution in the unified admission system is the Latvia University of Agriculture, which was chosen and approved as its first priority by 835 applicants.

The most popular among regional universities is Daugavpils University, where 473 people want to study. This is followed by Rēzekne Academy of Technology, where 265 applications from the first priority have been approved. The desire to study at the University of Liepaja was confirmed by 250 applicants, while at Vidzeme University College – 193.

Slightly less or 185 first priority applications have been approved for studies at the Banking Institution of Higher Education, but at Ventspils University College there are 136 such applications. At the School of Business, Arts and Technology “RISEBA” 61 applications have been approved, at the School of Information Systems Management – 57, and at the School of Economics and Culture – 45.

Among the mentioned higher education institutions, the most popular is the LU study program “Science of Law”, which was chosen as the first priority by 439 students. LU program “Medicine” with 378 applicants, LU program “Psychology” (369 applicants), LU program “Computer Science” (317 applicants), LU program “Communication Science” (277 applicants), RTU program “Computer Systems” “(267 applicants), LU program” Business Management “(238 applicants), LU program” Preschool teacher “(206 applicants), RTU program” Information Technology “(170 applicants) and RTU program” Architecture “(157 applicants).

Admission to Riga Stradins University (RSU) takes place separately from the 12 mentioned higher education institutions. Also this year, the number of applicants at RSU has grown, reaching 2636 unique applications, with one applicant applying for three study programs on average.

As the agency LETA found out at the university, the largest competition for health care study programs for one budget place this year is seen in the study programs “Physiotherapy”, “Midwife”, “Orthosis-Prosthetics”, “Audiology” and “Occupational Therapy”. Among the study programs of social sciences, the most applications per study place are in the programs “Psychology”, “Public Relations”, “International Business and Sustainable Economy”, “Journalism” and “Law”. Meanwhile, the most demanded professional study programs “Doctor’s Assistant” and “Therapeutic Massage”, professional bachelor’s study program “Nursing”, as well as academic bachelor’s study program “Psychology” were in RSU Liepaja branch this summer.

In terms of the number of applications, the leader of RSU is the study program “Medicine”, where 1163 applications were received, creating a competition for six people for one budget place. The biggest competition is traditionally in the study program “Nutrition”, where more than 35 applicants apply for one budget place this summer.

The competition for joint admission will take place in two rounds. The results of the first round will be announced on August 8 after 14, the results of the second round – on August 11 after 5 p.m. The results of the competition will be announced in the e-service “Electronic application for studies in basic study programs”, as well as in the form of text messages and electronic letters.

After finding out the results of the first round of the competition on August 8, the applicant will have to decide whether he wants to continue participating in the competition for the study programs indicated in the application.
