Star of the yéyé years, Sheila has a 58-year career to her credit. Woman of the stage and unforgettable performer of the hit “L’Ecole est finie”, the singer experienced the happiness of becoming a mother on April 7, 1975 with the birth of her son Ludovic Chancel, the result of her marriage to Ringo. But on July 7, 2017, Sheila experienced what no parent should ever experience: the death of her son, from an overdose. Ludovic Chancel was 42 years old. A real drama for the musician, who had clung to her career so as not to sink.
“Sheila is not crying. I discovered that in reality, I was hiding behind the singer that I am. Losing a child is not in the order of things. The fact of singing, of having this notoriety, this name, it is important for me because I cling to that ”, she confided with emotion. So, as soon as the opportunity arises, the musician pays homage to her son. This is particularly the case in her new album, in which she performs the song “Cheval d’amble” for her late Ludovic. Because as she indicated on Instagram on July 8, she is a “mother like any other”, despite the mourning that has been in her for four years now.
