This means the changed state budget for you

The case is continuously updated.

At 12 o’clock, Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum presented proposals for changes in next year’s state budget.

A number of things are already known through leaks, including cuts in the electricity tax, cuts in ferry prices, the maximum price in kindergartens being reduced and the commuter scheme being strengthened.

– This government says it must be the turn of ordinary people. With this state budget, we show that this is what it is, the Minister of Finance began his speech in the Storting on Monday.

Increased CO2 tax

In the proposal that was presented in the Storting at 12 o’clock, it appears that the Labor-SP government keeps the proposed increase in CO2 tax unchanged at 28 percent, but is in favor of the pump price being largely shielded.

Motorists will be largely compensated for the increase. This is in the form of a reduced road use fee and traffic insurance fee. In the road toll, it is mainly the biofuel component that is cut.

Overall, fuel taxes will continue to increase somewhat in 2022.

Increased wealth tax

The government also proposes to increase the wealth tax rate by 0.1 percentage points to 0.95 per cent in 2022. Under the Solberg government, the rate was reduced from 1.1 per cent to 0.85 per cent.

– With the tax measures we are taking in this country, people will notice that we are on a new course. Two out of three get less tax, 20 percent get unchanged tax, and the 13 percent with the strongest back get a tax increase, says Vedum.

Among those who receive increased tax, the average increase is about NOK 12,300. This group has about NOK 1 million in average gross income.

Ordinary people, those who do not pay tax on dividends and wealth, receive NOK 3.2 billion less in taxes and fees with the government’s proposal.

Tightens tax-free rule

The government also proposes that travelers should not be allowed to change their tax-free quota for tobacco with alcohol.

– The government proposes to reverse the change in the tax-free quotas that was implemented in 2014, so that you can no longer exchange the quota for tobacco products in wine or beer, says Vedum.

A number of counties are facing cuts in public transport. The Støre government will not add corona compensation to train and public transport companies beyond 2021 in the budget proposal.

Cheaper to use electricity

The government also wants to spend almost NOK 3 billion on reduced electricity tax, which will lead to people getting cheaper electricity. The proposal has already received criticism from the FRP, which calls it a “joke”.

Rising electricity prices are creating problems and concerns for families across the country. At the same time as the Minister of Finance presents the budget proposal, a new price record for electricity has been predicted, something Vedum and the government want to oppose.

– The biggest single move we make is with the electricity tax. After years of tax increases, there is now a tax cut and we reduce the electricity tax by almost three billion kroner a year. It is almost halved in the winter months, says Vedum.

In the government’s budget, the electricity tax will be 47 per cent lower in January, February and March, and 9 per cent lower the rest of the year.
