This legendary Italian sports car brand is also being revived | Car

The famous Italian sports car brand Bizzarrini is being revived. One of the founders is former Daewoo and Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez.

According to the British Autocar, the legendary Italian brand will soon return to the top segment of the car industry. No fewer than three former Aston Martin managers will be at the helm. Topman becomes Dr. Ulrich Bez, who was the CEO of Aston Martin from 2000 to 2013.

Bizzarrini was founded in 1964 by former Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and ISO engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. For a few years he produced a handful of sports cars and racing cars, now worth many hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions.

Giotto Bizzarrini is one of the greats of the Italian car industry. Among other things, he developed the aluminum 3.5-liter V12 powertrain that served as the basis for the engine of the Lamborghini Miura, Countach and Murcielago before starting his own car brand. The brand, best known for the Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada, was declared bankrupt in 1969.

Details about Bizzarrini’s resurgence are limited at this early stage, but Autocar says it is already clear that the company will have offices in London, Geneva, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Whether Bizzarrini himself will get a role in the company is questionable, given his current age of 94 years.

Giotto Bizzarrini worked at Ferrari mainly on the 250 series, of which this Ferrari 250 GT SWB (1959-1961) was one of the toppers until his departure in 1961. In 2004 he came to Autoworld in Brussels. © BELGA
