Modern cars with ABS can easily get out of a skid – just turn the steering wheel in the right direction and apply the brakes. But if the car is old? Then you have to work a little.
If you have a rear-wheel drive car, you need to release the gas and at the same time turn the steering wheel in the direction of skidding. As soon as the car has stabilized, you can straighten the steering wheel.
In a front-wheel drive car, the situation is the opposite – you need to add gas, straighten the steering wheel and wait for the car to stabilize.
But all-wheel drive cars have more problems. It is necessary not only to turn the steering wheel in the direction of skidding, but also to keep slightly excess gas. And the steering wheel straightens a little before the stabilization of the car. This is reported by the agency “Prime» with reference to an auto expert Egor Vasiliev:
“Moreover, regardless of the type of drive, the main thing to remember is that when a skid occurs, we must respond with both gas and steering. If we try to “chase” the skid only with our hands, turning the steering wheel, then at a high speed of movement this is guaranteed to end in an accident.”
