PONOROGO (Reality)- The increase in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Ponorogo Regency since the beginning of 2022, has made the public anxious. Even the demand for fogging (fumigation, ed) is increasing lately.

Unlike the majority of people who prioritize fogging to ward off Aedes Aigepty mosquitoes, residents in Hamlet Njanti RT 004 RW 001 Nglurup Village, Sampung District, have their own way to repel mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus.

Among them by promoting Mosquito Nest Cleaning (PSM) in the surrounding environment. Not only promoting 3 M (draining, closing, and burying) places that become mosquito nests. However, they also carry out environmental cleaning activities, with community service activities.

The head of the local RT, Senen (50) said, in addition to preventing the spread of the dengue virus, this activity was also in order to clean the environment in order to create a clean and tidy environment.

“Currently DHF is rising, this must be watched out for. Don’t be careless. For this reason, together with the residents we are promoting PSM again, and cleaning the environment. So that mosquito nests are lost and their spread can be anticipated,” he said, Monday (10/01/2022).

Senen admitted, fogging is not the only way to prevent dengue. PSM is also a solution to fight dengue fever. “With PSM, people are more aware of the cleanliness of their environment, and help prevent the spread of these mosquitoes. Because the smoke from fogging can cause respiratory problems,” he said.
