Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government plans to increase the number of oil palm plantations to produce cooking oil in the future. In order to control the price issue that is difficult to solve.

President Director of PTPN III Abdul Ghani, said that his party was running, there were three strategic PTPN programs to support national priority programs. starting from downstreaming the food sector, rejuvenating people’s palm oil, to accelerating renewables.

Specifically for the production of palm oil and cooking oil, his party will continue to increase its production capacity through the Palm Co business cluster.

Where the production of CPO from 2.67 million tons to 3.3 million tons, and oil production increased by about four times to 1.8 million tons in 2026 from 460 thousand tons.

“Our target in the next 5 years is 1.8 million tons or 2 million liters. Let’s say the government needs 2.4 million liters of bulk cooking oil, we have almost 95% fulfilled it, this is important for PTPN when it becomes agitated like this,” he explained in Hearing Meeting with Commission VI DPR RI, Tuesday (24/5/2022).

“When in the next five years the government has a lot of cooking oil, the situation will not be like it is now,” he said.

So according to Abdul Ghani, the government will no longer have trouble controlling the cooking oil industry as it is now.

Currently PTPN 3 has 550 hectares of oil palm plantations, so that in the future PTPN III targets to become the largest palm oil company in the world.

“We have ambitions to become the largest palm oil company in the world, and that’s just a little longer. Because now the largest palm oil company is 600 thousand hectares and we will be around 700 thousand hectares later,” he said.

In addition, from the sugar business clustering of Sugar Co, it is targeted that by 2026 it will increase sugar production 2.5 times from 768 thousand tons to 2.1 million tons. So according to him, Indonesia can be self-sufficient in sugar.
